I am Kathleen Sims. I work with people who are done circling the same problem for years and want to locate its source to heal it for good.
What this is, and what it isn’t
I am not a licensed psychotherapist, and I do not practice psychotherapy. I am a hypnotherapist, a Brainspotting practitioner and a coach. My work begins where talking has stopped getting you anywhere.
That distinction matters when you are choosing someone. If what you need is a diagnosis, an insurance claim, or a licensed clinician, I am not the right person, and I will tell you so on our first call rather than take your money. If you are in crisis, call or text 988.

How I came to this work
I have been doing this for forty years. That length of time changes how you listen. I am not looking for a label for you. I am listening for the moment your voice drops, or speeds up, or goes flat, because that is usually where the real thing lives.
Along the way I trained in the methods that got people the furthest, and I kept the ones that worked. Hypnotherapy, because the conscious mind is rarely the part running the pattern. Brainspotting, because the body keeps its own record. Coaching, because insight without a plan tends to fade by Thursday.
The love you're yearning for isn't gone. It's just buried. And I know exactly how to dig it up.
Writing and teaching
I am a co-author of eight number one bestselling personal growth books. Writing forced me to say plainly what I had only ever said in a room with one person, and it made me a better practitioner.
I formerly served on the executive board at John F. Kennedy University in the transformation in business MBA programme, where I was voted best teacher by students. Teaching adults who were running companies taught me something I use every week: people change when the work respects their intelligence.
What a session feels like
Warm, direct and unhurried. Sessions are long on purpose, so we are not just getting started as the hour ends. You will be asked real questions. You will not be rushed, and you will not be handed a script.
I see people in person in Walnut Creek, California, and online in any location. Many people mix the two.
