Who I work with
You are not winding down. People keep assuming you are.
Something changed in how you are spoken to. You are asked about your plans in a tone that expects the answer to be gardening, and you have a great deal of life left and no intention of spending it being managed.
Why I am the right age for this
I am not a young person telling you it is never too late from a position of never having had to test it. I lost a center I ran for thirty five years. I have been widowed. I met my partner at sixty two. I am still working, and I am not being brave about it.
The advantage nobody names
You know precisely what you do not want, and that took decades to learn. Most people starting something have to buy that knowledge with expensive mistakes. You already own it, which is why people who begin again at this stage often move faster than they did at thirty.
What people in this position usually bring
- A chapter that ended without a next one
- Something from decades ago that has never let go
- Wanting love again, later
- Being made to feel invisible
How I would work with this
The best decade of my own life started after the part everyone assumed was the end.
