Walnut Creek, California
You are on edge most days and cannot point to why.
Nothing is wrong. You have checked. And your body is behaving as though something is about to be, from roughly the moment you wake up.
This might be you if
- You wake already braced
- You scan rooms, calendars and other people's tone of voice
- You are fine while busy and it arrives the moment you stop
- You have been told to breathe, and breathing helps for about four minutes
First, what I am and am not
I am a coach and a Certified Hypnotherapist, not a licensed mental health provider. If what you need is medication, a diagnosis or a licensed clinician, I am not the right person and I will say so plainly and help you find someone who is. I work with people who feel this way and want to get underneath it.
Coping is not the same as clearing
Most of what people are given is management. Breathe here, reframe there, track the thought. It works, in the moment, and it is exhausting to run for a decade. Management is what you do when the source has not been reached.
Getting underneath it
In this work we are usually not looking for the reason you feel it now. We are looking for where the setting was installed, which is often much earlier and much smaller than expected. When that comes down, people describe the change less as feeling calm and more as not having to work at being calm.
How I would work with this
You have managed it for a long time. You are allowed to want it gone rather than handled.
