From the inside
It is much quieter than people expect.
People arrive braced for something dramatic and find a still room, a fixed point to look at, and long stretches of no conversation at all. That silence is the method working, not a gap in it.
Finding the spot
We bring up what you are working on, and then I move a pointer slowly across your field of vision while you tell me, or more often while your body tells me, where it gets stronger. That location is the spot. It is specific to you and to this piece of material, and it is often somewhere unexpected.
Then we wait, and that is the work
You keep your eyes there and let whatever happens happen. Images arrive out of order. Old memories surface that you had not thought about in decades and that turn out to be connected. Your body may want to move, or to be very still. I am not directing it. I am holding the room steady while your own system does something it already knows how to do.
What people report
Waves that rise and then settle. A moment where the thing simply drops. Very frequently tiredness afterwards, the good kind. And a strange flatness when they go back to check on the memory later, which is the point.
Questions people ask about this
- What if nothing happens?
- That is common in the first minutes and it is not failure. Nothing happening is usually the system deciding whether it is safe, and it generally is not nothing for long.
- Do I have to talk?
- Very little. Some of the strongest sessions I have sat in have been almost entirely silent.
- Is this the same as hypnosis?
- No. You are fully alert and your eyes are open. It is a different mechanism entirely.
How I would work with this
It asks very little of you, which is why it reaches things that asked a great deal.
